Katy Perry's Orange You Glad I Love You Smoothie (Erewhon Copycat)

Katy Perry named her smoothie "Orange You Glad I Love You" which is the kind of pun that should be punishable by law but you can't argue with the flavor. It's a bright, tangerine-orange creamsicle blend with coconut yogurt swirled through it and a hot pink pitaya glaze at the bottom that creates a two-tone sunset effect through the clear cup. The orange flavor is aggressive in the best way, tropical and citrusy and sweet. The pitaya at the bottom is purely for the visual. Pink on the bottom, orange on top, coconut cream tying them together. It looks like a California sunset, which is probably intentional because everything Erewhon does is intentional. This is the exact recipe. Same orange blend, same pitaya base, same sunset aesthetic. Make it at home and you don't have to pretend the name is clever.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup coconut yogurt
- 1 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 scoop vanilla collagen powder (optional)
- FOR THE CUP:
- 2 tablespoons coconut cream
- 1 tablespoon pitaya (dragon fruit) puree or 1/2 teaspoon pitaya powder mixed with cream
Instructions
- 1
Create the pitaya base
Mix the pitaya puree or pitaya powder into the coconut cream until it's hot pink. Spoon it into the bottom of your cup. This is the sunset floor. The pink layer that the orange will sit on top of.
- 2
Blend the orange smoothie
Add the orange juice, coconut yogurt, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, frozen banana, maple syrup, and collagen to your blender. Blend on high for 45 seconds until smooth and bright orange. The mango and OJ are driving the color. The yogurt adds creaminess.

Pour over the pink
Pour the orange smoothie slowly over the pitaya base. The bright orange lands on the hot pink and the two colors are visible through the clear cup. Pink bottom, orange top. Sunset in a cup. No complex technique needed, just a slow pour.

Serve
Add a swirl of coconut cream on top if you want. The three colors together (pink, orange, white) look ridiculous in a good way. Drink it and try not to think about the name too hard.
Baker's Notes
- Fresh orange juice makes a noticeable difference here. The OJ is the primary flavor and base liquid. Not-from-concentrate refrigerated OJ is the minimum. Fresh squeezed is ideal.
- The pitaya base layer is cosmetic. It tastes fine but it's there for the pink-orange contrast. If you don't have pitaya, skip it. The smoothie still tastes the same.
- This is one of the sweeter Erewhon smoothies. The OJ, mango, pineapple, and banana are all bringing sugar. If you want it less sweet, cut the maple syrup and use half a banana instead of a whole one.
