Kourtney Kardashian's Poosh Potion Detox Smoothie (Erewhon Copycat)

Kourtney Kardashian made a smoothie that's jet black and looks like polished stone in a cup. White coconut cream swirled through it in patterns that genuinely look like expensive marble. It launched right before Halloween because Kourtney Kardashian-Barker has never missed a branding opportunity in her life, and a goth smoothie two weeks before October 31st is basically free marketing. The Poosh Potion Detox Smoothie is vegan, dairy-free, and powered by activated charcoal, which is the ingredient responsible for making everything it touches look like it was dipped in the void. The "detox" angle is debatable. Your liver does that for free, around the clock, without requiring a branded smoothie. But the flavor is legitimately good. Creamy from the coconut yogurt, sweet from the banana and maple, with a subtle chocolate earthiness from the cacao. The real reason to make this is the visual. The black and white marble is stunning when you nail the technique, and the technique is easier than it looks. This is the exact Erewhon recipe with the same spiderweb marble method their tonic bar employees use. Make it at home, freak out your roommates, and save yourself eighteen dollars.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup coconut water (Harmless Harvest if you're fancy)
- 1/4 cup coconut yogurt (plain, dairy-free)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- 1/3 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 scoop vanilla plant-based protein powder
- 1 tablespoon cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon activated charcoal powder
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- FOR THE CUP:
- 3 tablespoons coconut cream (chilled, thick part only)
Instructions
- 1
Prep the cup with coconut cream
Spoon thick coconut cream across the bottom of your cup so it's covered in white. Take another spoonful and smear it up the inside walls in a few uneven streaks. Messy is better than neat here. You're creating the white canvas that the black smoothie will marble against.
- 2
Blend everything black
Add the coconut water, coconut yogurt, almond milk, frozen banana, avocado, blueberries, protein powder, cacao powder, charcoal, and maple syrup to your blender. Blend on high until it's completely smooth and an absolute void of a color. You're going for liquid obsidian. If it's gray, add more charcoal. The blueberries and cacao deepen the darkness, and the avocado's fat content carries the pigment.
- 3
Pour for the marble effect
Pour the black smoothie slowly into the center of the prepared cup. As it fills, the black pushes against the white coconut cream on the walls and bottom, creating a natural marble pattern. Don't stir. Don't swirl. Let the pour do the work.
- 4
Create the spiderweb drag
Take a straw or chopstick and gently drag it through the smoothie along the inside walls. This pulls the white cream through the black in thin veins, creating a marble or spiderweb effect. One or two slow drags. You are not stirring. You're making one deliberate, controlled movement. Then stop.
- 5
Top and serve
Drop one more spoonful of coconut cream on the surface. It floats on the black like a cloud over a very dark ocean. Serve with a straw and accept that your tongue is going to be black for the next hour or so. Consider it a conversation starter or a warning to others.
Baker's Notes
- MEDICATION WARNING: This is not a bit. Activated charcoal binds to medications in your digestive system and can reduce or eliminate their effectiveness. If you take birth control, antidepressants, blood thinners, thyroid meds, or any prescription drugs, either skip the charcoal entirely or wait at least 2 hours after taking your meds. Use black sesame powder as a visual substitute if you want the color without the pharmaceutical interference.
- Your mouth, teeth, and tongue will be black after drinking this. If you have a video call or a date within the next 90 minutes, plan accordingly.
- The blueberries and avocado help achieve true black. Without them you might get a dark gray that looks more accidental than intentional.
- If the marble effect doesn't work, your smoothie was too thin and blasted through the coconut cream. Make it thicker with more frozen banana or ice.
